BUILDINGS. TY SEGALL

Music Videos

Director and documentarian MATT YOKA has been hailed by No Film School as the creator of “some of the weirdest and most exciting pieces of music video since Spike Jonze and the Beastie Boys.” His on-going collaboration with Drag City recording artist Ty Segall includes “Break A Guitar,” featuring Fred Armisen and Jack Black; the Webby Award-winning interactive collage-art project “Manipulator;” and “Emotional Mugger,” a long-form player that shatters the conventions of what a music video can be, taking viewers on a gonzo-odyssey through contemporary Los Angeles that positions Matt as “heir to the throne of David Cronenberg.”  Here is "Buildings" from Ty's new album Possession, a lush, pop vision quest into the American Dream that Matt also co-wrote the lyrics for. In a way, the music video is also kind of a documentary about what it feels like to live in L.A.
