COASTAL ACCESS. CONSTANT GALLERY
Photography Exhibition
While surf photographers focus their lens on the myths of wave riding, tan lines and eternal youth, MOSES BERKSON's first solo U.S. exhibition at the Constant Gallery covers the improvised secrecy of the surfing's territoriality through a formal documentation of the paths and environments that lead to hidden and legendary breaks along the California coast. In large-format photos that preserves the self-imposed marginalization of the surf breaks themselves, Berkson instead engages with the site-specificity of the non-places that lead to them, evoking mysterious and ephemeral journeys taken through wilderness in a search for the ocean.
